Essential for trekking or camping in the Amazon Rainforest

Just a quick post here to urge anyone who is travelling to remote locations where purified water is scarce , here is a top recommendation from Otorongo Expeditions owner and head guide Anthony Giardenelli

Lifestraw everyone! Boiled water can be hard to get on the move and we do not carry five gallon jugs of purified water on hikes. Lifestraw has proven to save lives if not at least prevent severe bacterial  infections caused by drinking contaminated water.

Small, lightweight and portable, there is no better travel companion. They have many models out. I use the family filter and the hand held straw. Pump filters  are delicate and can break exactly when you need it. These lifestraws use gravity or your own suction to move the water, they say the small handheld filters over 1000 liters of water!

so if you are planning a trekking trip to the Amazon, do not forget your lifestraw ( and personal first aid kit, long sleeves, knife, binos and waterproof bags)
