Three New Bungalows made from Recycled materials

Otorongo Expeditions Amazon River Lodge is Proud to Present Three New Bungalows . These ultra sleek and stylish houses are made from 30% recycled material from previous constructions, you wouldn't know the difference just by looking. The dark black wood is recycled stilt palm from our first dining room. The stilt palm (Iriatea deltoides) is a very hard and resistant material. The fibers are so strong that termites have a tough time even breaking into it!

Stilt palm was used in native construction for flooring and walls. Tools such as spears and shovels can also be made by its super tough fiber.

We chose tin roof due to the durability and long lasting protection from Rain and sun. The normal Thatch roof is a neat way to build a house but it is not sustainable, having to replace every 4-6 years. The thatch is sourced from the interior of the forest so it seems contradictory to call it sustainable.

Come and visit our Amazon River Lodge and experience something unforgettable. You can go pink dolphin watching, look for sloths, anacondas and howler monkeys by day. Rest assured that on return, your solar powered 220 volt illuminated house is waiting for you to unwind inside.

Each house has:

Two beds

220 volt lighting

A single outlet for charging

flush toilet

shower, sink

shelf and fine finished surfaces.
